Gloin the Dwarf joins the Company of Thorin Oakenshield as both participant and investor. A stalwart retainer and traditionalist, Gloin and his brother Oin are cousins to Thorin, the King in Exile, and hold his quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the Dragon Smaug as of the greatest import for the future of their people. Both are old enough to have known the prosperous days of glory before the fall of Erebor and feel keenly its loss and the shaming of the once proud line of Durin. Gloin would see the majesty of the Dwarves restored for his son Gimli’s sake, and all the Dwarves to come, and rallies to Thorin’s side, packing axe and coin for the journey. As adroit with weapons as he is astute in business, Gloin is a stout but sturdy warrior and wary of both Elves and the Wizard who leads their Company to Rivendell. He mistrusts the hand of friendship that Elrond extends to the Dwarves and councils a quick departure. Weta continues the legacy of producing finely crafted, highly detailed 1/6 scale collectible polystone statues from Middle-earth. The essence of each character expertly captured in every piece. Gloin the Dwarf was sculpted by Greg Tozer to an exacting likeness of the character played by Peter Hambleton in the movie. It takes a team of people approximately 400-500 hours to design, sculpt, model-make, mould and paint the prototype for each new character. Sculpted and created by the same artists and craftspeople who work on our movies, Gloin the Dwarf joins our range of 1/6 scale characters from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
